Key takeaways
  • Each platform differs in export options and URL structure, so check before you start
  • WordPress sites carry SEO plugin data and plugin content that need care
  • Always keep your old store live until redirects and checkout are tested

The steps are similar for every migration, but each platform has quirks. Here is what to watch for when you leave WooCommerce, Wix or Dukaan. Export features change often, so always confirm in your own dashboard.

Leaving WooCommerce

WooCommerce runs on WordPress, so your store, blog and plugins sit together.

  • Export: products and customers can usually be exported as CSV through built-in tools or plugins. Orders may need a plugin or a custom export.
  • SEO data: if you used an SEO plugin, export titles and descriptions. They may live in plugin fields rather than in the product export.
  • URLs: WordPress addresses often include /product/ and /product-category/. Map them to the new structure and add redirects (guide).
  • Plugins: a feature you used (bundles, subscriptions, bookings) may have no equivalent. List them early.
  • Hosting: keep your hosting until the migration is complete.

Leaving Wix

  • Export: Wix Stores lets you export product data as CSV. Check what is included for customers and orders, because options may be limited.
  • Design: Wix designs are tied to its editor and do not move, so rebuild your design.
  • Domain: if you bought your domain through Wix, you can connect it elsewhere or transfer it once it is eligible (connect vs transfer).
  • Blog and pages: copy content manually or with a tool.
  • Apps: Wix apps and their data stay behind.

Leaving Dukaan

  • Export: look in your dashboard for exports of products, customers and orders. If something cannot be exported, ask Dukaan support or copy it manually.
  • Fees and plan: remember Dukaan charges a service fee on online sales on its plans, so compare the total cost of your new platform (cost guide).
  • Store address: Dukaan stores often live on a Dukaan subdomain or a custom domain. If you use a Dukaan address, you cannot take it with you, so plan redirects from it where possible and announce the new address.

What is the same everywhere

  • Back up first (export checklist).
  • Build and test the new store while the old one sells.
  • Test UPI, card and cash on delivery orders.
  • Redirect old URLs.
  • Switch the domain on a quiet day and keep email records.
  • Monitor for two weeks.

Ask for help

A good platform will offer to move the data for you. We move products, customers and orders, help connect your domain and set up redirects, and your old store stays live until you switch. See how it works.

What to do next

Write down three things your current platform does that you rely on. Then check each one on your shortlist, because those are the features that migrations most often lose.

Frequently asked questions

Which migration is hardest?

WooCommerce tends to need the most care because content, plugins and SEO data sit together. The complexity depends on how customised your store is.

Can I move my customer accounts?

Customer details such as names, emails and addresses can usually be exported and imported. Passwords generally cannot move, so send customers an email inviting them to set a new password on the new store.

Do I have to pay for two platforms during the move?

Yes, briefly. Keep the old one until the new store is live, tested and your domain has moved.
